3rd Term Examination Begins On July 5,2010

The 3rd Term Examination for the 2009/2010 session will begin
on onday 5th July,2010 throughtout the state .

This is anall important examnation especially for all the SSS2 students
as they try to gain promotion to SSS3 next session - 2010/2011 session.

The state governement, tired of the fall in the performances of those who were
promoted in the past but who failed to make impressive results in the state-sponsored WASSCE, has ordered that every child who intends to get promoted to the next class, that is, SSS3 must
have 50% pass in FIVE SUBJECTS including Mathematics and English.

As you can see this is a tall order for the unserious ones who think that promotion
would,as usual, be automatic.

We in this school have made it clear to our students that we shall endeavour to go by
the rules set by the state government.

Our students have been consequently warned not to expect anybody to help them
with any undeserved marks. They all need to work hard for every point they get as
we try to get them to do their best all the time because that is the only means to
success in life.

History Is Made :Students Elect Acting Prefects

On Thursday 11th March,2010 the students of Falomo senior High School came together to choose their Acting Prefects who would probably be finally confirmed next session provided they gained promotion to the next class-SSS3.

The election which was closely watched by the V.P.Academic,Mr. S.O.Kazeem,was conducted by Messrs Ajala and Abe both of whom formed the Prefect Selection and Monitoring Committee of the school.

A week earlier Messrs Ajala and Abe had shortlisted the names of students who were capable of being Prefects and submitted the list to Mr. Kazeem who, after a short meeting propsed that the students populace should henceforth be made to have a sense of belonging in the selection of their Prefects unlike it used to be in the past.

Mr. Kazeem's reason was that most of the students never felt obliged to respect their Prefects simply because they never agreed with most,if not all of the students, didn't see any reason why they should respect or obey those people they did not elected to lead them.

After the election, both Muhammed Muritala and Yejide Da Silva were elected as the Head Boy and Head Girl respectively.

This is to wish the elected Acting Prefect an effective and good leadership during their reign.

2nd Term Unified Examination Begins For SSS 1 And 2 Students

The school joined other schools in the state to conduct the 2nd Term Unified Examination for all its students starting from Wednesday 17th March,2010.

The students are expected to be seriously involved in their studies henceforth until the end of the examination period.

The SSS1 and 2 students are the ones involved in the exam this time around and this will add up with the 3rd term examination to determine the future of the students.

Now the state government has made it mandatory for every student to have 50% in each subject for them to gain promotion to the next class. Therefore, it is expected that every student will begin to see the need for them to be more serious with their education because it will not be very easy for anyone to have 50% without enough hard work that is required this time around.

This is wishing the students the best in their examination.

F.S.H.S Drama Club Becomes The King Of The Stage In Education District 3

The school Drama Club became the District Champions in drama on Thursday 11th March, 2010 when they defeated all other zonal champions from Zones 1,3 and 4 of the District.

Earlier the club had won the Zonal competition for the schools in Zone 2 where our school is located hence it represented the Zone at the Final of the Competition to face the other Zonal winners Lagos Island,Epe and Ibeju-Leki.

It was a keen contest with many schools coming forward to display their God-given talents.

In fact it got to a point where the students of Falomo Senior High School,Ikoyi were becoming afraid simply because of the kind of costumes used by some other well-endowed school.

After the contest Falomo Senior High was declared the Champions for the 2009/2010 academic Year in the District.

With this victory, the school stands the change to represent the District at the state level in the nearest future.

This is to congratulate the entire members of the cast on the play EVIL BROTHER which was written by Israel Said Dauda who also directed it.

We also say a big thank you to Mr. S.O.Kazeem,the Vice Principal (Academic) who founded the club and has volunteered to be in charge since his arrival in the school in May 2008.

Mrs B.A.Dosunmu Is Transferred

Mrs. B.A.Dosunmu,the English Language and Literature-In-English Teacher for SSS1 has been transferred to Akande Dahunsi Memorial Senior High School.Osborne Road,Ikoyi with effect from Friday 5th March,2010.

It's such a pity because Mrs.Dosunmu is pregnant right now and we believe that since she lives very far away she should have been left in the school for
convenience.

However, the District thought otherwise because they said there has been no English Language Teacher in Akande Dahunsi for a long time.

We all will surely miss Mrs.Dosunmu because of her hardwork, dedication to
duty, social and welfare matters concerning the staff.(She is the Secretary to the
Social Welfare Committee ).

This is wishing Mrs.Dosunmu the best in her future endeavours.

Thank you for serving the school dedicatedly for such a short time.

Mr. Odubiyi Moves To His New House

The Head of Department of Social Sciences and Art  and the Economics teacher for both SSS3 and SSS1,.Mr.Odubiyi, has finished the construction of his own building and he has since  moved there a few months ago.

Odubiyi was formerly living in a rested flat at Mushin area of Lagos before the latest move to his own abode which is located at Ayobo in Ogun State.

The new experience is making our ever early H.O.D. to be coming late to school in recent time which he has since promised to look into because the distance is long and the early morning traffic situation on that route is not be best one can imaging now.

We urge the student to please bear with Mr. Odubiyi because we all know that the very moment he lands in school all the outstanding lessons are always taken care of before the end od the day's work.He even tries to work out extra time for some classes to make up for the lost time before his arrival in school.

This is to wish Mr. Odubiyi a peaceful stay in his own home.

We also pray that the other teachers in this school would be able to get to that level; in their personal development too.

Yejide Da- Silva of SSS 2A came second in the 2010 Spelling Bee Competition for the secondary schools in Eti-Osa.

The competition which was organized by the Obalende-Ikoyi Local Development Local
Authority in collaboration with the Local Education District III,Falomo,Ikoyi took place at the  Glover Road,Ikoyi Secretariat of the Local Authority.

About 50 students from all the schools in the local government were involved in
the competition this year.

Mr. D.O. Fagbemi, the Head of Department of Languages, who led the students to the venue of the competition reported that the school's representatives especially Da-Silva really tried their best, but for a very minor mistake that she made which dropped her from the initial first position as she was already leading the pack before the drop.

When asked Yejide remarked that she had thought the Judge pronounced the word
"reminiscent" instead of the right word "reminiscence" which he indeed called.

This is wishing our representatives better luck next time.

This time aroundthe state is trying to ensure that the students in the public schools do not have their Continuous Assessment Results sent to WAEC late as it used to be in the past hence the need to get the exams done at a time like this long before the end of the registration for the WASSCE for this session.
