Be Road Friendly Competition: Falomo Came First, To Represent District 3 At State Final

Falomo Senior High School, Ikoyi came first at the District 3 final of the 2013 Be Road Friendly  Competition.

The school sent our representatives to the competition very late,in fact, we nearly did not want to take part in the competition because the invitation letter that was supposed to have been sent to the school did not get to us because they did not dispatch it at the District headquarters,Falomo.

Nevertheless, we were able to send our representatives to the competition in order to make appearance since we were invited at the zero hour.

The champions always display their prowess when it matters most. That was why our representatives at the competition  performed so well they were declared the winners of the competition.

For their performance, the school would now represent the whole of District 3 at the state final scheduled for a later date to be announced soon.

Mr.Victor Igbinosa
Mr. Victor Igbinosa, the Economics Teacher, who won the Best Teacher's Award for 2012 in the school as well as the 2nd Best Teacher award in the whole District 3, has been transferred from the school with effect from Tuesday 17th September,2013.

He is now with the Girls Senior Secondary Grammar School,Keffi,Obalende.

Mr. Igbinosa was a very good teacher while he served the school. He was always the first person to arrive in school;he did this consistently throughout his stay with us.

We are all going to miss the amiable gentleman from Benin City. His colleagues and students are already lamenting his departure.

"Thank you so much sir for given me the opportunity to serve the school,"Mr. Igbinosa said when he met with Mr.S.O.Kazeem,Vice Principal (Academic)."I'll miss you all,"he concluded.

If we know this hardworking fellow well enough, we know we are going to find it hard to fill the vacuum his departure would be creating in our mist.

Mr, Igbinosa was not just a teacher,he was a counselor,father-figure,and strong member of the Staff's Social/Welfare Committee.

Mr. Igbinosa,we all wish you well and God's guidance and protection in your new place.Thank you for giving your all to the school.

Screening Exercise For The SSS 3 Students

Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Education, plans to carry out a screen exercise for the newly promoted SSS 3 students in the state public senior secondary schools.

When the state decided to do this exercise in the 2912/13 academic year, it was done in the form of an examination which was used to determine the competence of the students and their readiness for the final school certificate examination for which the state government has been paying since 1999 as part of its free education.

While addressing the newly promoted SSS 3 students at the school's morning assembly on Monday 23rd September,2013, the Vice Principal (Academic), Mr. S.O.Kazeem, encouraged the students to inform their mates to resume immediately instead of wasting their time at home as they were used to when they were in both SSS 1 and 2 because the time left for them in the school was too short for any time-wasting attitude.

We all wish the newly promoted SSS 3 students the best as they prepare themselves for the screening exercise.

The School Resumes For The 2013/2014 Academic Year

Like every public schools in Lagos State, the school opens its gate for the commencement of the 2013/14 academic session on Monday September 23,2013.

The students population on the opening day was commendable to the extent that Mr. Adebodun Abe,the Geography teacher has to say "This is surprising, how did the number become so large on the first day of resumption, are they tired of the holidays already?"

The opening School Assembly was addressed by Mr. S.O.Kazeem,Vice Principal (Academic) on behalf of the principal, Mrs.C.A.Adeboye, who had traveled to Tanzania on Eko Project Progamme for School
Principals in Lagos State.

In his address, Mr. Kazeem congratulated the newly promoted students and encouraged them to be hardworking and productive in the studies. He also reminded them to be concerned about their former classmates who failed and has been asked to repeat the class.

The Vice Principal also welcomed the new SSS 1 students who were around for the day's assembly. He explained that although the two schools shared the same compound, they were not the same administratively. Therefore, the new SSS 1 students would need to adjust themselves to life in the senior school which was different to what they had been experiencing in the past years at the junior school.

Mr. Kazeem added that the final selection of the new Prefect would be done in two or three days in order for the Prefects to start their work in earnest. He reiterated that not all the acting prefects would be made permanent prefects because their individual performances when they were in the acting capacity would be taken into consideration in the final selection."Therefore, you should relent in your performance because it would be the basis for your final selection."

learning of Theoretical Chemistry to the production of
Liquid Air Fresher and Liquid Soap.

Mr. Amebe, the Chemistry Teacher led the students to the
production of the products when he felt challenged by the

The students had the benefit of experiencing how the two
products are produced by the combination of chemicals.

The students were not only excited by the production of
the domestic products, some of them are already thinking
about how to begin to produce them for commercial
purposes.

The 2013 Long Vacation Is Finally Here

The Vice Principal (Academic) Mr. S.O.Kazeem
The 2012/13 Academic Session has finally come to an end with the schools in Lagos State going on vacation on Friday July 26th, 2013.

Falomo Senior High School students were advised by the Vice Principal (Academic),Mr. S.O.Kazeem at the end-of-term Special Assembly session held at the school.

The V.P. in his advice admonished the students to maximize the special opportunity provided by the holiday period to develop some skills that would be of benefit to them in the nearest future. He added that "Eight weeks should be enough for a serious person to learn a new skill that would be of use to him/her in the future."

Mr. Kazeem went on to point the attention of students to such skills as Barbing, Fashion Design, Shoe-Making,Computer Repair and Website Designing, Desktop Publishing, Cake Making, Beads Making etc.

The V.P. remarked that these are the type of skills that the students could still use in their lives when they eventually gained admission into the university and cash seemed to be somehow difficult to come by.

He finally reported that the students should report back to school for the collection of their reports on  Friday August 16th, 2013.Every student should come to the school in their school uniforms,he warned.
